Dmitri Talapin is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Chicago. He has been with the university since 2007 where he first started as an assistant professor. His research focuses on chemistry, physics and material science of inorganic nanostructures. Talapin's research interests include colloidal synthesis, self-assembly and characterization of nanomaterial properties. He and his team create novel materials for electronic, photovoltaic, thermoelectric and catalytic applications by combining expertise in colloidal synthesis, self-assembly and characterization of nanomaterial properties. Professor Talapin is currently engaged in the colloidal synthesis of inorganic nanostructures and its development into a new branch of synthetic chemistry.
In 2011 he was awarded the Materials Research Society Outstanding Young Investigator Award. Thompson Reuters also ranked him #21 among top 100 most cited chemists of the past decade.
